evening, hope everyone is good. can you believe the 21st. is Summer Solstice. this years longest day. man. time flies. 82 days to the start. I need to tell one on myself. a ways back, while the engine cases were bare, I did a few mods or updates. one being boring the cases to except a modern day seal for the magneto and generator. after starting the bike I had quite the oil leak at the generator to case seal. pulling it apart I found the seal that I had bored out after centering on the existing hole. well it was way off. so I guess don’t follow my lead. I made a few aluminum blanks to find center of the generator arm. shaft then made a off set plug with a o ring seal and a bore to except a small GM transfer case shift rod seal to seal on the shaft. so if anyone is thinking of installing a modern seal make sure to check the center line of the generator shaft not the existing hole to bore. this is time that could have been spent on other needs.
got a old 30 amp (should be a 10 amp.) Weston gauge put in the dash, still waiting on a switch.
have been on the hunt for some time for a 1930 Colorado license plate. have all but gave up. used a 1960 tag I had and changed the 6 to a 3. it gets the point across and will work for me. the 1930 tag had slanted digits said only COLO and 30 across the bottom. thanks for the ideal Gene.
Saturday started on the sidecar chassis other than the damaged main casting connection found two other breaks. got a ways to go. cut up some 1 1/2″ 14 gauge tube, bent the main tube.
received our number placards
sunday after chores got a bit of run time on the chief. had bought a k&n air filter an mounted it. she wanted nothing to do with it so it came off. wire tied a piece of scotch bright over the carb. (live on a dirt road) removed the small exhaust baffles and tail tip. she runs pretty stout. got the title work back from a friend, so during the week I ll get a tag and insurance. have more things to get done but plan on heading east for break in miles next week end.. can t hardly wait..
Sunday morn, Linda an I rode into Colo. Springs for a Dads Day breakfast. Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads. Linda did a GREAT job riding her 74 BMW (Peggy) and I rode the 29 in.
